Bahram I was the Sasanian King of Kings of Iran who ruled from AD 271 to 274. He succeeded his brother Hormizd I and is notable for elevating the influential Zoroastrian high priest Kartir. During his brief reign, he ordered the imprisonment and execution of Mani, the founder of Manichaeism, securing Zoroastrianism as the state religion.
