Bahram II (reigned AD 276 to 293) was a Sasanian King of Kings who secured the throne with the aid of the powerful Zoroastrian high priest Kartir. His reign witnessed a Roman invasion by Emperor Carus and a major rebellion in the eastern provinces led by his brother Hormizd. Early in his reign, Bahram II issued coins depicting himself alone, before introducing complex types featuring his queen and heir.
